PE
At our school we believe a high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Aims
The National Curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:
- develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- are physically active for sustained periods of time
- engage in competitive sports and activities
- lead healthy, active lives.
Early Years Foundation Stage
Our PE provision begins at Early Years Foundation Stage. Here, PE is experienced through a balanced provision of structured and free play environments. Children are introduced to a range of activities aimed at developing confidence, control and coordination in large and small movement.
Key Stage 1
In Key Stage 1, every child takes part in two PE lessons each week, usually one indoors and one outdoors. Across the school year, pupils follow a broad programme of study which includes games, dance, gymnastics and athletics.
As part of our commitment to pupils’ well-being, fitness and health, we also provide a variety of opportunities to be active throughout the day. At playtimes, children can enjoy structured activities, while in class they often take part in energising programmes such as Go Noodle and Cosmic Yoga.
Our Sports Premium funding allows us to employ a specialist PE coach who delivers high-quality physical activity lessons and works alongside teachers to support subject knowledge and assessment. The coach also leads lunchtime activities, ensuring playtimes are fun, inclusive and active.

This academic year we have a new coach working with us! His name is Kamare Henry and he works for a local company called Project Sport. If you would like to find out more about Project Sport and all the things they offer PE wise out of school click on the link below;
