What will I learn from this subject?
The GCSE RE course will build on the topics and skills learned over Key Stage 3. The focus will be on both religious beliefs; and philosophical and Ethical studies. The GCSE is split into 2 components:
Component 1:
A study of religions, beliefs, teachings and practices in Islam and Christianity. Component 2:
Thematic studies – Relationships and families, Religion and Life, Religion – Crime and Punishment and Religion – human rights.
Anything else I need to know?
RE will help develop your key skills in communication, working with others, problem solving and reflecting on your own leaning. It will also give you skills in making decisions about moral problems, and help you to become sure about your own beliefs and values. It will also help promote respect and tolerance for views opposite of your own; and understand people of other cultures, beliefs and religions.
What can I do after?
GCSE RE is a subject which is highly respected by employers, colleges and universities.
It is useful for lots of careers, including:

How is it assessed?
In GCSE RE there are two written exams the end of Year 11.
· Paper 1 - A study of religions, beliefs, teachings and practices in Islam and Christianity. (50 % of the qualification)
· Paper 2 - Thematic studies. (50 % of the qualification)
