Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium funding targets additional money for pupils from the most deprived background to help them achieve their full potential.

The Pupil Premium was introduced in 2011 to provide additional funds for disadvantaged pupils. The difference to previous funding is that it is linked to individual pupils.

The amount per pupil in the primary phase is now £1,320 and £935 in the secondary phase. Pupils are eligible who have been entitled to free school meals within the past 6 years or who have been in care. A separate grant of £300 is paid to schools to support well-being of service children.

Ofsted looks closely at how schools target and spend the Pupil Premium and how these pupils perform. As a direct result we target our allocated monies on maintaining smaller class sizes to target teaching and further accelerate progress and to ensure the performance of our pupil premium pupils is greatly enhanced. Evidence of this is shown in the ‘Schools Financial Benchmarking’.
